Frequently Asked Questions Immigration Lawyer

Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

It is always helpful to contact an immigration attorney anytime you are dealing with USCIS or the Immigration Court. However, if you are currently in removal proceedings and have an upcoming hearing, you should contact an immigration attorney immediately.

No. An attorney is not required to claim relief in immigration proceedings or to file petitions with USCIS. However, it is in your best interest to have an attorney who understands what forms of relief you qualify for and the nuances of filling petitions with USCIS to avoid negative results or unnecessary delays.

We are equipped to take any type of immigration-related case including Lawful Permanent Residency (Green Cards – via family-based or employment-based petitions), Naturalization applications, temporary work visas (H-1B, L, O, P, etc.), and any matter in Immigration Court (removal defense, bond hearings, etc.).

I serve clients throughout the state of Rhode Island & Massachusetts, including  South Coast and the Greater Boston areas.

For the first 10 minutes or so of the initial telephone conversation, we will gather information from you to determine both if we can help you. These first 10 or so minutes are free of charge.  We cannot give legal advice during this first 10 minutes.

If you have scheduled a consultation, the fee for the initial session will be $200. This fee covers the entire consultation, typically lasting approximately one hour. Please note that variations in the duration of the consultation will not affect the fixed price of $200.

There is no consultation fee for Personal Injury matters.

Each immigration-related matter we handle requires a different fee. During our consultation and after analyzing your case, we will provide you with a price quote for your particular situation. For most immigration-related matters, we will charge a 'flat fee,' ensuring transparency and providing you with a clear understanding of the total cost, without any surprises.

Hourly fees are rarely used in immigration-related matters. However, should your case necessitate an hourly fee structure, rest assured that we will discuss this with you beforehand. We believe in open communication and will ensure that all fee structures and potential charges are thoroughly explained and agreed upon before proceeding, ensuring transparency and no unexpected costs for our clients.

Yes; immigration law is a matter of federal law, not state law.  Any immigration lawyer in any state may practice immigration law in any other state in the United States.  However, if your case involves appearances in Immigration Court in a state other than Massachusetts, we suggest that you retain an experienced immigration attorney who can easily make appearances in that court.
