1. Declaration of National Emergency at the Southern Border
Trump declared a “border invasion,” enabling the federal government to suspend asylum laws and implement measures to repatriate non-citizens involved in the situation. The declaration also allows for military and National Guard support at the border.
2. Border Wall and National Security
The orders revived plans to build the border wall and called for additional barriers and detention facilities. The “Remain in Mexico” policy for asylum seekers was also reinstated, requiring them to wait in Mexico while their claims are processed.

5. Suspension of Refugee Resettlement
Trump suspended refugee admissions, deciding that each case would be evaluated individually, with a focus on ensuring the ability of refugees to fully assimilate into U.S. society.
6. Designation of Cartels as Terrorist Organizations
The orders also aim to designate certain drug cartels as terrorist organizations, which would allow the U.S. government to take military action against them.
